Taking the Autumn altar into the trees, a sacred ritual unfolds for our personal harvest
For the recent Creative Wise Women circle the theme was ‘our personal harvest’. What an amazing time of year it is Autumn Equinox, harvesting the bounty of veg and fruits, apple scrumping, rose hip syrup and sloe gin making. There’s a hive of activity in the fields and gardens, yet … we can also feel the transition of the weather and the darker evenings draw in much earlier now. The circle turns as it has always done and we must move along with it too.
Seasonal altar display
- Bowl of veggies, some from my garden, hazel nuts and foraged rose hips. Vibrant colours, assorted shapes and textures. Opened pine cones collected earlier in the year.
- Candles, For this circle I set intention lifting the vibration of gratitude for ourselves and authenticity.
- Talking stick. The stick comes from a sacred apple orchard. I decorated with bound leather twine and small bell. In ancient mythology, the apple is one of the most sacred trees and symbolises good health, future happiness and a place of rest and shelter. It’s known as ‘the tree of knowledge’.
- Seasonal card by Wendy Andrew, illustrates as early night falls the crops of wheat, oats and barley, wild flowers and animals of the land. Www.paintingdreams.co.uk
I sense there’s an increasing interest to reignite the olde ways, those practices and activities connected to natural order of things. I believe it is beneficial for us all to include some aspects of sacred, simple and meaningful rituals into our life and living space.
The Creative Wise Women circle is a place to be curious, open minded, to speak and also listen. In the latest circle I asked each person –
‘What have you gained or harvested these past months? ‘
Perhaps it was something that brought you joy, or supported you during a difficult time. It could be a life skill, new knowledge or something that’s brought beauty into your world.
Some replies:
- Picking such abundance of vegetables from my garden.
- Starting a new business and getting my first happy clients.
- Being able to enjoy more summer time activities and wear summery clothes as weather has been warmer.
In circle we chatted about our personal harvests, what they meant to us. Each unique and special.
What our Creative Wise Women said of the circle;
“it felt good making connections with other women and in such a calm environment, and a bit magical being outside with the ribbons tied to the tree”
My guiding principals for Creative Wise Women Circle are: collaboration, community, conscious awareness, listening cheerleader, pause moments and sacred self/space.

CREATIVE WISE WOMEN CIRCLE – location PO19
You may have seen women’s circles advertised, mentioned on various sites and were a bit curious about them.
“Gathering with a group of women in a safe place with the intention of sharing experiences and wisdom. They often include a group meditation, creative or therapeutic activities and a chance for each woman to share anything they would like to with the group.
They are judgement-free zones – a space to be yourself and connect with other like-minded women. Women’s Circle is one of the greatest sources of strength, healing and inspiration for women in our community.”
Quote by Karyn Sepulveda, author of The Women’s Circle.
Creative Wise Women circle is for: Collaboration, Community, Conscious Awareness, Listening Cheerleader, Pause Moments, Sacred Space.
This circle is for those of us who have a creative perspective, not by judging if we are or not creative. We become wise women through life’s experiences. Valuing freedom. With conscious awareness of choices and directions, even when we’re discombobulated. One’s voice, our truth being heard by others and encouraged. Being in circle initiates pause, to reset. Alchemy of changing the ordinary to make it a personal and sacred. In circle we’re curious, we create and cultivate collaborations.
