“the dictatorship of the clock, the schedule and the Google Calendar (and phone) alert”. The constant feeling that you ought to be getting more done.”
Pause Moments matter in a profound and significant way. A reminder of your humanness. Rushing and busy time then becomes irrelevant. A sigh of relief. You may even experience profound peace entering your heart and mind.
So I ask you, do you even know how to rest, to pause from getting things done?
The enjoyment of not-doing (still, lazy), without the emotional shame-filled inner critic.
Just Stop Pause Moments
The aim of this workshop is to experience a senses based slower pace of life.
Learn short, practical, senses-based ways to experience slower life away from our ever-present devices. Pause Moments created by Linzi Martin is paying attention to the world from a grounded, calm mental and physical state of being. A rest from life’s “to dos”.
‘Pause Moments’ are times for noticing when you need to just stop what you’re doing or thinking for a while. Especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed, after an intense period of mental concentration or the busyness of life’s productivity.
Pause Moments provide freedom of choice from a variety of sense-based experiences, transitioning you into a slower, calmer state which is healthier for your mind, body and life.
Burn out, trauma, anxiety and life changing situations affect all of us. Pause Moments are do-able self care practices to increase the feel good hormones and reduce the stress ones.
We tune in with ourselves, attuning to what we ‘need’. We improve our relationship with ourselves, being loving, thoughtful, kind and curious. Isn’t that what we all seek in a good relationship?
The workshop is an immersive experience with time spent inside and outside in a natural environment.
Linzi will explain and demonstrate Pause Moments for you to try for yourself. We’ll discuss how they form part of a conscious lifestyle.
Just Stop – Senses Walk n Chat
The aim of this workshop is to sense into the natural environment and to discuss what slower living means for you.
Sensing into your environment, connect and chat with other creatives. End your week with releasing busyness and breathing in serenity. Experience an extended Pause Moment.
As this workshop is being held outside please bring mat or cushion to sit. Some light fruit snacks to share will be provided.
Linzi will explain and demonstrate Pause Moments for you to try for yourself. As a group we’ll discuss how this senses-based mindful awareness forms part of a conscious lifestyle.
This immersive experience will be in Oaklands Park. Bring a cushion/blanket to sit comfortably as we’ll spend time walking, then sitting on benches or grass.
“The spirit of the times is one of joyless urgency” Marilynne Robinson. Taking time at the end of a busy week, away from your devices to connect with real people. Practice senses-based Pause Moments* in the serenity of the park.
We’ll sit together to discuss what ‘living slower’ means and where Pause Moments* fit into a slower lifestyle.
Rituals for Sacred Self
The aim of this workshop is to bring a little magic, sacredness and alchemy into normal daily life.
In a world where bigger is prominent let’s create small conscious rituals for our sacred self. Feel empowered. Ritual is alchemy. Intentional dedication to celebrate life’s transitions.
Ritual is often considered only from a religious source. Yet Linzi believes we can utilise simple daily rituals to deepen our experience of life and sense of purpose (our Ikigai).
A ritual is a sequence of activities involving gestures, words, actions or revered objects. It’s the alchemy of transforming the mundane into the exceptional. Sacred self is a holder of ceremony, a wisdom keeper.
The power of ritual creates acknowledgment of significant moments and personal intentions. It helps you to slow down from life’s busy routines… to spend time away from our ever present devices and bring perhaps a little magic into the moment.
Linzi will draw upon many ancient and modern influences to guide you into the set-up of a sacred space and try out a few simple rituals of your own. You’ll explore techniques to quieten the mind. Then choose a personal intention and create your own alchemy for change.
Note: What to bring – an object that represents something personal and special eg a card, bowl, figurine. Linzi will have an assortment of small things you can use as options.
I tell myself, just keep on doing stuff … til when? When do I tap pause?
Contemplating impatience, not stopping all this doing stuff and what’s in it for me?
The impatience of getting on with stuff and life. I still default to that. I’ve come to recognise that for the most part what ever the activity, where I felt ‘driven’ to do, I came away feeling empty. Without pleasure or enjoyment, nor filling my life with purpose.
In other words I considered myself not good enough with who I was and needed to improve. Or ‘do’ something else to feel worthy, or valued or intelligent or more creative and so on. I was dissatisfied with myself.
Somewhere along the way of my doings-life journey I became acutely aware of having a heightened sensory perception of all things. I’d always been able to smell flower blossoms yet now the change was I consciously stayed a little while longer to savour the smell. Staying in that moment of recognising the enjoyment (or sometimes not so much) of the scent.
Closing my eyes as a way to pay attention, breathing in through my nostrils. Taking a pause. A distraction if you lije from busyness, or going somewhere. A short ‘stop’ from the necessities of daily life, just to be.
It’s a precious thing that – just be. I am complete. There’s no needing to be better at it, or improve, or judge myself against anyone else, or try harder or accomplish an end target. I decide how long I take in my pause moment, whether to move on or linger. I am within my own wonderful, amazing humanness. I have a sense of my own sovereignty. (freedom) And for now there’s no AI or robot controlling my use of time.

I wonder if chocolate can be added into everything!
